PROFILE
Cink took the big leap from consistent Tour pro to major champion at Turnberry in 2009 after edging out Tom Watson to win the Open Championship in a play-off. The American holed what proved a vital birdie putt at the 18th in regulation play and with Watson bogeying the same hole the two men went into extra holes. And with Watson tiring, it was Cink who turned on the style to get his hands on the claret jug. Prior to that breakthrough victory, Cink had always been thereabouts in the majors, boasting a third place finish in each of the other three - the US Masters in 2008, the US Open in 2001 and the USPGA in 1999. Back in 2004 he also showed his class with a fifth-place finish on the US Money List and wins at the MCI Heritage and the WGC-NEC Invitational - one of the prestigious World Golf Championships events. He's also become famous in recent times for being the most popular golfer on Twitter. Just prior to his Open win he already had over half a million followers.
